Blogging as a retailer

In this webinar we consider the retailer who wants to start blogging. Why post blog posts when you have a store? The main reasons are; (1) you can strengthen your own brand and (2) you can generate more website and more store visits.

However, blogging can take a lot of time. That's why we usually advise choosing the role of an expert instead of blogging 'like a magazine'.

Expert: Relevant information that will last for years.

Magazine: Hot news that's trendy right now.

Writing a relevant blog takes time, but it lasts longer than a news article. Think about the problems the customer may have and provide a unique perspective of the solution to this problem. For jewellers, for example, this is 'How do I replace my watch battery' or 'Have a piece of jewelery made with old gold'.

Write a blog about the store

It is then wise to collect customer data so that the blogs can contribute to an increase in turnover. Of course you can also push directly on a sale. This is what most people who post something on Social Media or write a blog do. However, it is more valuable in the long term to provide relevant information and to offer people the opportunity to sign up for a newsletter.

This way you build a relationship with your audience and people will buy from you more often in the future than that one-off purchase.

The structure for your store blog

Search engines prefer to match the right answers with the right questions. That is why it is a good idea to show the search engine that you are an expert in a certain field. You can do this by making a pyramid model of your website.

Choose some topics you want to cover. For example, are you a jeweller? Then it is the categories Watches, Jewellery, Wedding rings, Repairs, About us.

You can then create pages about the specific elements for each category and link from those pages to the main category page. For example, do you have a Watches page? Link from the 'Men's Watches' and 'Women's Watches' page to this page.

You can also adjust this structure in the permalink by using /watches/gents, for example.

For the omnichannel retailer

Do you have a store, but no PrismaNote yet? Then read more about the retail software and start with shop automation. With the system you can easily combine the shopping processes with the webshop. This way you have effective, complete software to get started as an omnichannel retailer.
